Where our engineering goes

Automotive is where the team was built and where most of our work still sits. Aerospace, defense and medical technology are the domains we are actively growing into, because the engineering discipline transfers directly.

Focus domains

Four domains of active interest

These four share a common demand: certified processes, traceable requirements and hardware that has to work for a decade in the field.

Automotive

Our deepest domain. Gateways, clusters, infotainment, autonomous driving and power distribution, delivered from RFQ to SOP and through model-year updates.

  • Gateways — the main computer in the car, routing and processing all vehicle data
  • Instrument clusters and infotainment displays
  • Main infotainment computers — audio, video, navigation and wireless connectivity
  • Autonomous driving — radar, lidar, sensors and cameras
  • Camera monitoring systems for driver, passengers and vehicle surroundings
  • Highly integrated computers combining the functionality of 10–15 devices
  • Power train, battery and smart fuse management computers
  • Cyber security and functional safety strategy development

Experience with all European, US and Japanese car manufacturers, working to IATF 16949, ASPICE and ISO 26262 as a matter of course.

Aerospace

Avionics electronics and the safety-critical engineering discipline that comes with it, built on the same certification-driven processes as our automotive work.

  • Avionics electronics development
  • Safety-critical software and system architecture
  • Requirements traceability and certification-oriented documentation
  • Verification and validation for high-assurance systems

A focus domain for ECS.SDX. The rigour that automotive functional safety demands transfers directly, and our engineers have delivered for programmes including SpaceX.

Defense

Ruggedised embedded electronics, secure communications and the cyber security practice that underpins both.

  • Embedded computing for demanding environments
  • Secure communication systems and solutions
  • Cryptography, HSM integration and secure boot
  • Threat and risk analysis

A focus domain for ECS.SDX, drawing on our cyber security practice and our experience with communication systems.

Medical Technology

Medical electronics where reliability, traceability and regulatory documentation are the core of the engineering task rather than an afterthought.

  • Medical device electronics and embedded software
  • Reliability and safety analysis
  • Requirements traceability and design history documentation
  • Verification and validation to regulated standards

A focus domain for ECS.SDX. The processes that satisfy IATF 16949 and ISO 26262 map closely onto medical device quality systems.
